\n* GBR. London. 94.4 FM. Another station, run by a TV engineer, Abe Cohen, Radio Aquarius, starts broadcasts, and forms the LTIR, or London Transmitter of Independant Radio. This is to involve other stations, but unlike Radio Free London and the Helen Broadcasting Network, all these stations come from the one transmitter, not various different ones that turned on and off in turn and could only be heard in different places. Relaying has come of age. Stations thus relayed include Radio Jackie, Radio Star, Radio London Underground [RLU], JFM [Which grew out of the Jackie VHF Saturday night service], Radio Classic and Radio Odyssey

\n* GBR. Kingston Crown Court. Eric Gotts appeal against his conviction of assault on the Radio Jackie member happens early this month. This is dismissed as the judge points out, that the GPO has no right under the 1949 Wireless Telegraphy Act to take equipment without a court order. As the GPO had no court order, they exceeded their authority. Gotts conviction stands and he is ordered to pay costs. The upshoot of this is for the next five years no UK Land based stations are to be raided, as under the 1949 act, rigs can be inspected and tested, but not seized.
