BBG statement on interference of broadcasts to Iran
http://blogs.rnw.nl/medianetwork/bbg-statement-on-interference-of-broadcasts-to-iran
South Herts Radio will now broadcast as follows effective from 3rd Jan 2010.
Every other Sunday from Sunday 3rd January from 08.00 – 20.00 UTC. Shortwave 5835 KHz (52 meter band) with low power to Europe from the U.K.
Only when our webstream is on air can you find us on FM anywhere between 87.6 – 107.9 MHz throughout the U.K. and Europe and on dedicated relays usually 90.9 MHz in South & East Herts, 97.9 MHz in West Herts and 102.5 MHz in North Herts thanks to our listeners relaying our webstreams on legitimate low power devices.
We also operate on (WFM) 863.5 MHz in South Herts and 864.5 MHz in North Herts at a higher power of sometimes up to 50 watts.
Weekdays Mon – Fri from Jan 4th we will be on (shortwave only) with low power on 3935 KHz (76 meter band) from 19.00 – 22.00 UTC. We are also testing 7325 KHz in the 41 meter band with low power, times and days vary. When we say low power we mean just above micro power but effective when conditions are on our side.
We are also testing on the AM band in the medium wave band in parts of the U.K. again thanks to some of our listeners relaying us on low power devices. Example tx
http://www.vcomp.co.uk/spitfire/spitfire.htm any frequency that is clear in steps of 9 Khz.
Finally we are relayed by other stations (usually clandestine) at various times and frequencies see http://www.southhertsradio.com/frequencies.html for more info.
Once again the live webstream should be on air every other Sunday with (limited slots) but we do offer an excellent listen again service and downloads which we will be expanding on a much greater scale in 2010. Look out for changes to our website and schedules soon. We may miss the odd Sunday but this is only a hobby station.
SHR is for the serious DXer and offshore radio enthusiast with DX related shows and pirate tributes mostly as listen on demand files. Reception reports are always welcome.
In the New Year I will be devoting more time to making new shows for Laser Hot Hits. You can hear some of my previous shows for Laser on the Humyo player at http://www.southhertsradio.com/again.html
Happy new year and 73.

Frohe Weihnachten allen Lesern!
For newcomers, and as a reminder to oldcomers, the standard litany about Xmas eve DXing goes something like this:
Thorough patrols of the tropical bands may turn up some nice catches, as some stations extend broadcast hours much later than usual, making them more DXable, even all-night; or even temporarily reactivate dormant transmitters, in order to convey Xmas greetings, play seasonal music, etc.
Latin America primarily, Africa secondarily and other Christianized areas tertiarily, e.g. Papua New Guinea.
Likewise for New Year`s Eve. Since the holidays are on Friday, some of this might extend into the following weekends as well.

Dear friends,
five new products for 2010
– 2010 Super Frequency List on CD

2009/2010 Guide to Utility Radio Stations
have been published on 8 December. We’ve worked around the clock and hundreds of advance orders have been mailed by Thursday 10 December, i.e. well in time for the Christmas holiday and radio monitoring season. Enjoy!
Larry Magne’s Passport to World Band Radio has been discontinued:
there will be no 2010 edition and beyond. By consequence, our 2010
Shortwave Frequency Guide remains the only international handbook
that gives you full schedule details for each entry in the unique
broadcast frequency list, e.g.
4824.4 – La Voz de la Selva – Iquitos – PRU – 01.00-03.00 – Sp – dom –
Mon-Sat
7210.0 – All India Radio – Kolkata – IND – 04.00 – 05.00 – En Hi Bg –

On our updated website
you can download full A4 size PDF sample pages of our latest printed
products as well as the new 2010 catalogue, plus detailed product
descriptions, sample pages, screenshots, and a list of dealers
worldwide – from Australia to the United States of America!
Alternatively, you may ask for our free 24-pages 2010 printed
catalogue to your postal address.
Deadline for the very latest 2010 broadcast schedules published in
the brandnew Shortwave Frequency Guide was on 20 November 2009.
Unlike traditional publications in this field, our clear layout and
new typeface provides for excellent legibility. See the brandnew PDF
sample pages!
Apart from the usual up-to-date broadcast and utility station and
schedule databases, the 2010 Super Frequency List on CD now covers
353 fascinating new digital data decoder screenshots from
professional HF stations around the globe.
Our product Digital Data Decoder Screenshots on CD now covers more
than 7,000 (seven thousand!) digital data decoder screenshots from
1997 to today, essentially produced with WAVECOM equipment. Feed your Windows PC with this CD, and the “slide show” will keep you busy for a few days – or weeks!
WAVECOM W-CODE is a software decoder with inputs identical to the
famous W61PC. It allows seamless integration with SDR (Software-
Defined Radio) receivers with IQ data or digital audio outputs, and
provides all functions required to analyze, decode and process data
communications throughout the complete radio spectrum (HF, VHF, UHF, SHF). MICROTELECOM’s revolutionary Perseus and the W-CODE make a real dream team!
The W61 series of Digital Data Analyzer and Decoder products is
clearly targeted at the professional market. Typical applications are
manual or automated monitoring of radio communication transmissions
in the HF + UHF + VHF + SHF + satellite bands, SIGINT, and signal
analysis and classification. The superb new software cracks 200+
modes with worldwide leading technology. Detailed information can be
found on our website and in the printed brochure available upon
request.
As precisely predicted by ourselves – and by nobody else! – already
10 years ago in 2000, HF e-mail continues to spread rapidly and has
developed into the major application of modern digital HF techniques
that we have marketed – and used! – for years.
After Hurricane Katrina and the Indian Ocean Tsunami, Lesson # 1
says: Forget about satphone, BPL, cellphones, e-mail and Internet. HF
radio is vital!

EXTRA GRIMETON RADIO/SAQ TRANSMISSION
There will be a transmission with the Alexanderson alternator on 17,2 kHz on December 10 2009 at 08:00 UTC and will be repeated at 16:00 UTC the same day.
The reason for the extra transmission is a centenary commemoration of the Nobel Prize given to Guglielmo Marconi and Karl Ferdinand Brown.
We do not require any QSL-reports this time and will not verify.
Regards.
SM6NM/Lars
P.S.We still intend to continue with our annual transmissions on Christmas Eve (morning), Dec 24, at 08:00 UTC with tuning up from 07:30 UTC. D.S.
