1. Mittelwellenfreunde Contest

1. Zeitraum

Die Mittelwellenfreunde veranstalten in der Zeit vom 17. Juli bis 01. August 2010 ihren 1. Diplomcontest.

2. Zielgebiet

Das diesjährige Zielgebiet ist SPANIEN. Rund 80 Frequenzen werden von spanischen Sendern belegt, so dass Spanien als klassisches europäisches Mittelwellenland bezeichnet werden kann.

3. Teilnahmebedingungen

Teilnehmen kann jeder Hobbyfreund, unabhängig von einer Klub- oder Forumsmitgliedschaft.
Die Logs sind nach Contestende als Mail an die mittelwellenfreunde@web.de zu senden.

WICHTIGE HINWEISE:

a. Logs per Email bitte in folgendem Format:
Frequenz-Tag-Uhrzeit (UTC)-ITU-Sender-Sprache-SIO-Programmdetails

b. Die Empfangszeit (mit Ausnahme der Regional- und Lokalprogramme sollte rund zehn Minuten betragen).

c. Aus dem Log muss die Identifikation der Station und das Sendeformat (Zentral-, Regional- und Lokalprogramm) hervor gehen. Globale Aussagen wie ID, Lokalprogramm, werden nicht gewertet.

4. Wertung

Gezählt werden alle Stationen vom spanischen Festland, den spanischen Inseln oder spanischen Enklaven. Dabei gibt es folgende Punkteregelung:

a. 1 Länderpunkt – Logs von Zentralprogrammen ohne eindeutige Stationszuweisung
(z. B.: 1.287 kHz – SER Radio various mit Standorten in Lleida, Castilla und Lugo)

b. 2 Länderpunkte – Logs von Zentralprogrammen mit eindeutiger Stationszuweisung
(z. B. 909 kHz – Radio Nacional 5, Palma de Mallorca)

c. 3 Länderpunkte – Logs von eindeutig zuzuweisenden Regional- oder Lokalprogrammen
(z.B. – 1.224 kHz – COPE Albacete)

5. Diplom

Das Diplom wird in drei Stufen vergeben:

Bronze – bis einschließlich 20 Länderpunkte
Silber – bis einschließlich 50 Länderpunkte
Gold – ab 51 Länderpunkte

Memorial Day – Radio’s Role in War

Radio has long been used as another weapon in war, mainly as a propaganda tool. From broadcasts aimed at Iraq by U.S. forces against Saddam Hussein, to North Vietnam’s “Hanoi Hannah” during the Vietnam War, Germany’s “Axis Sally”, and Japan’s “Tokyo Rose” in World War II, Radio has been used by the good guys and the bad guys.

SLBC Colombo

SRI LANKA 15120 SLBC’s Korean Service at 1030-1130 UT via DW Trincomalee will cease temporarily from the 4th of June. SLBC instead starts another hour of Hindi to India on 11905 kHz via Trincomalee 355deg beam with 200 kW at 1530-1630 UTC.

STAR radio is broadcasting on 104 FM & 4.025 MHz (mega-hertz) Short Wave in the 75-meter Band. For now test transmission on the Short Wave runs from 5 to 9 in the morning and 6-9 in the evening.

NASB Shortwave Listener Survey

New NASB Shortwave Listener Survey, is now online. The purpose of the survey is to gather demographic and other information about shortwave listeners in North America and around the world. Questions deal with listener preferences regarding shortwave stations, programming, receivers, DRM and much more. The NASB is requesting and encouraging all shortwave publications and websites to place a link to the survey, which will be online until May of 2011. The survey results will be announced to the public at the 2011 NASB annual meeting.
