“Wenn sich junge Menschen zu Veranstaltungen wie “Interactive Cologne: Hack, Tech & Biz” treffen, spricht man schnell von Nerds. Doch neu ist die Gattung Mensch deshalb nicht. Etwas abgedrehte Tüftler und Bastler, mitunter Sonderlinge, aber auch sehr an Kommunikation und Innovation interessiert, die gibt es schon seit vielen Jahrzehnten. Statt schräger Mail- und Twitteradresse haben sie ein Rufzeichen, DL1ABC zum Beispiel mit dem sie sich per Funk im Weltäther bewegen. Am Wochenende trafen sich die Amateurfunker in Friedrichshafen zur HAM RADIO. Die internationale Ausstellung zeigt, dass diese Art der Kommunikation alles andere als tot ist und gerade digital noch manche Überraschung zu bieten hat.”

WRTH Summer Season broadcast schedules file

The WRTH editorial team are pleased to announce that the Summer (A) Season broadcast schedules file is now available to download for free from http://www.wrth.com/ just follow the link on the front page (updates).

Included in this file are: Broadcast schedules for international and clandestine/target broadcasters, international broadcasts in DRM, International frequency listing, and selected language broadcasts. Also included is a decode table for site and target area codes.

The 80 page file is just over 2MB in size and in PDF format (with bookmarks to assist in navigating between sections) and unique section page numbering to assist with printing. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat reader in order to open this file. The Acrobat Reader can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/

We hope you find this file a useful accompaniment to the printed WRTH.

Ausbreitungssoftware: ASAPS mit neuen Funktionen & kostenlos via Java!

Moin, moin – die etwas eigenwillige Ausbreitungsprognose ASAPS liegt nun in
der wesentlich überarbeiteten Version 6.2 (zunächst als Pre-Release) vor und
ist in fast allen Funktionen auch kostenlos via Java im Internet bedienbar:

Wesentliche Neuerungen umfassen die Lieferung aktueller Ionosphärendaten im
20-Minuten-Takt für präzisere Ausbreitungsvorhersagen sowie erheblich
erweiterte Ausgabemöglichkeiten für digitale Kommunikation (z.B. Anzeige von
Multipath-Interferenz).

Zur besseren Visualisierung lassen sich die Daten auf Google Earth
übertragen.

Diese neuen Features sind singulär und machen die Software zum Mittel der
Wahl für Funkamateure, die an Digimodes interessiert sind sowie für Hörer,
die ihre Utility-Empfangsergebnisse optimieren wollen (wozu bekanntlich bei
Digimodes nicht ein dickes Signal wichtig ist, sondern die geringste Neigung
zu Multipath.

Es gibt eine hinsichtlich mancher Variablen eingeschränkte kostenlose
Demo-Version – für jene, die das nicht mit Java direkt nutzen wollen.

EMWG Perseus file

Dear all,

There is now also a Perseus user list file with the EMWG data. Please go to http://www.hermanboel.eu/emwg/online-perseus.htm for the EMWG Perseus page.

Instructions:

* When you have downloaded the file, please rename it to either userlist1.txt or userlist2.txt and put it in the Perseus directory on your computer. Please only activate the Perseus after you have done this.

* In various cases there will be stations which are seemingly on the air 24h a day while this is not really the case. The reason is that the Perseus software requires a time slot to be filled in, regardless of whether it is correct. This means that when I am not sure at what times a particular station is on the air, I had to put ‘0000-2400’ as otherwise Perseus would not show the station on its frequency.

* Please note this is a test version only. It still needs a bit of tweaking. However, it contains all EMWG data that can fit in the Perseus software and is perfect for use.
Corrections, feedback, donations, support, etc. are of course always welcome.
