die Sendungen der Voice of America für Haiti kann man als Livestream hören:

Der Stream ist aber offenbar nur aktiv, wenn auch die Sendungen über Antenne laufen.

Im Augenblick werden laufend Telefonanrufe von Menschen durchgegeben, die sich nach dem Schicksal ihrer Angehörigen im Katastrophengebiet erkundigen.

Es dürfte sich um dasselbe Programm handeln, welches zur Zeit in Haiti über UKW und über Flugzeug verbreitet wird.

Special QSLs for the 14th Birthday of the Electronic DXPress

To commemorate the 14th birthday of the Electronic DX Press Radio Monitoring Association (EDXP) on January 4, 2010, special QSLs are now being issued for all correct reception reports received up to the end of 2010 for the “Radio EDXP” programs hosted by various international shortwave broadcasters, titled “The Australian DX Report”.

The full colour QSLs show Australian scenes and wildlife, and indicate the actual transmitter location and the name of the host broadcaster.

“Radio EDXP” is the EDXP’s long-time broadcasting service, offering news reports and schedule updates about international broadcasting, propagation, and monitoring.

Host broadcasters include:
– Worldwide Christian Radio (WWCR) – Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Every week, on Sundays, at 0300-0315 and on Mondays at 1245-1300
– The Voice of the Andes, HCJB, Quito, Ecuador, each month during the “DX Party Line” English program. The DXPL is broadcast over HCJB-Australia (Kunnunurra, Western Australia), WWCR, WRMI and IRRS (Slovakia)
– World Harvest Radio International – T8WH Palau, and WHRI Indiana, monthly during the “DXing with Cumbre” English program
– Adventist World Radio worldwide network, every month, during the
“Wavescan” program, on weekends. This may be heard over transmitters in Guam, Germany, and WRMI.

Reports must include sufficient details for validation purposes, and
indicate the date (UTC), time (UTC), frequency, quality of reception, and interference effects, and should be sent to:

Return postage is mandatory – A$2 in mint Australian stamps (for Australian addresses), one IRC or US$1 elsewhere

Zenith Classic Rock, Waterford returns to 1584

Posts on DigitalSpy and RadioWaves report that, like last year, Zenith Classic Rock, Waterford has a temporary licence from the BCI to operate weekends from 0000 Friday to 2400 Sunday on 103.8 and 1584, 1 kw C-Quam Stereo.

Licence is for ten weekends, first broadcast was last weekend on 103.8 only, they are now operating on both frequencies.

NDB-DX für Dummies

nein, kein neues Buch aus der “… für Dummies”-Reihe. Hartmut Wolff hat sich die Mühe gemacht, und für einen Normalsterblichen die notwendigen Einstellungen von SpectrumLab fürs NDB-DX beschrieben.

SpectrumLab von Wolfgang Büscher ist wohl *das* Tool zur Analyse von Soundfiles schlechthin, und unterstützt von Trägerguckern, NDB-DXern hin zu Fledermaus-Forschern restlos alles und jeden, der irgendwelche Geräusche untersuchen möchte. Was aber leider auch bedeutet, daß es nicht nur ein unglaublich “mächtiges” Werkzeug ist, es ist für einen Gelegenheits-User mit seinem undurchdringlich erscheinenden Dschungel aus Hunderten von Reitern, Checkboxen, Drop-Down-menus auch ein Tool mit einer sehr flachen Lernkurve.

Welche Einstellungen wie und wo vorzunehmen sind, was sie bewirken, wie sie interagieren und wie das zum NDB-DX zu nutzen ist, ist hier beschrieben. Damit ist zumindestens eine Grundkonfiguration möglich und eine Grundlage zur individuellen Konfiguration und Lernphase möglich.

South Herts Radio

South Herts Radio will now broadcast as follows effective from 3rd Jan 2010.

Every other Sunday from Sunday 3rd January from 08.00 – 20.00 UTC. Shortwave 5835 KHz (52 meter band) with low power to Europe from the U.K.

Only when our webstream is on air can you find us on FM anywhere between 87.6 – 107.9 MHz throughout the U.K. and Europe and on dedicated relays usually 90.9 MHz in South & East Herts, 97.9 MHz in West Herts and 102.5 MHz in North Herts thanks to our listeners relaying our webstreams on legitimate low power devices.

We also operate on (WFM) 863.5 MHz in South Herts and 864.5 MHz in North Herts at a higher power of sometimes up to 50 watts.

Weekdays Mon – Fri from Jan 4th we will be on (shortwave only) with low power on 3935 KHz (76 meter band) from 19.00 – 22.00 UTC. We are also testing 7325 KHz in the 41 meter band with low power, times and days vary. When we say low power we mean just above micro power but effective when conditions are on our side.

We are also testing on the AM band in the medium wave band in parts of the U.K. again thanks to some of our listeners relaying us on low power devices. Example tx

Look out for changes to our website and schedules soon. We may miss the odd Sunday but this is only a hobby station.

SHR is for the serious DXer and offshore radio enthusiast with DX related shows and pirate tributes mostly as listen on demand files. Reception reports are always welcome.

Radio Luxembourg special on KCFM

It’s exactly 18 years since the great 208 closed down, and KCFM’s Shaun Tilley, who presented the last live show on Radio Luxembourg on that night, will be looking back at the golden days of this legendary station in a 3-hour special on KCFM 99.8 from 7pm on Wednesday 30th December. Playing some of the hits Luxy made famous and chatting to DJ legends such as Tony Prince, Emperor Rosko, Mike Read, Steve Wright etc etc.

Xmas/New Year Eve DXing

For newcomers, and as a reminder to oldcomers, the standard litany about Xmas eve DXing goes something like this:

Thorough patrols of the tropical bands may turn up some nice catches, as some stations extend broadcast hours much later than usual, making them more DXable, even all-night; or even temporarily reactivate dormant transmitters, in order to convey Xmas greetings, play seasonal music, etc.

Latin America primarily, Africa secondarily and other Christianized areas tertiarily, e.g. Papua New Guinea.

Likewise for New Year`s Eve. Since the holidays are on Friday, some of this might extend into the following weekends as well.

RTBFi verlässt Kurzwelle

Zum Jahresende verabschiedet sich Belgien komplett von der Kurzwelle, das französischsprachige Programm RTBFi wird dann nicht mehr über die Sendestation Wavre ausgestrahlt. Bis zu diesem Datum werden auf KW die Frequenzen 9970 kHz und 9925 kHz (DRM) eingesetzt. Auch 2010 kann man das Programm aber im Internet, in Kinshasa auf UKW (falls man sowieso mal da ist, kann man ja mal reinschalten) oder auf Mittelwelle 621 kHz in Europa hören.

Hörerklubs Ottenau,

vor 30 Jahren wurde der Kurzwellenhörerklub Murgtal als SWLCS Ortsring Murgtal gegründet. Aus diesem Anlass gibt es nun einen gemeinsamen Kontest mit dem RTI Hörerklub Ottenau, zu dem ich Euch heute freundlich einladen möchte.

China Radio International – Deutsche Redaktion

Liebe Freunde von CRI,

im April 2010 feiert die Deutsche Redaktion von Radio China International ihr 50-jähriges Bestehen. Zu diesem Jubiläum dürfen natürlich alte Freunde und Bekannte nicht fehlen!

Anlässlich dieses besonderen Jahrestages der Deutschen Redaktion wollen wir unter anderem einen Jubiläumsband über die Entwicklung unserer Redaktion herausgegeben. Diese Entwicklung soll dabei mit interessanten Photos und Rückblicken dokumentiert werden. Dazu möchten wir auch gerne Photos von Souvenirs sammeln, die wir seit 50 Jahren verschenken. Sollten Sie also im Besitz solch eines Souvenirs sein, dann schicken Sie uns doch bitte ein Photo davon und eine kurze Erklärung darüber, wie Sie dieses Souvenir erhalten haben. Eine Auswahl dieser Photos wird anschließend in dem Jubiläumsband veröffentlicht!

Sollten Sie zudem Ausschnitte unseres Programms auf CD oder Kassette
aufgenommen haben, so können Sie uns gerne eine Kopie ihrer Lieblingssendung zuschicken, auch hier bitte wieder mit einer kurzen Erläuterung, was Ihnen an dieser Sendung besonders gut gefällt oder aus welchem Grund Sie gerade diesen Ausschnitt aufgenommen haben.
