The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame updated

I have just updated The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame. New this month: following the interest in the vintage copy of Radio News posted last time, we have added another issue – from January 1967; we have a fascinating interview with Radio 270’s Paul Burnett carried out by Steve England (this photo of Paul courtesy of Greg Bance); Lucas Graham, son of Radio London’s Mike Lennox, hopes to make a documentary film about his late father. We have the trailer; and we remember song-writer Geoff Stephens who passed away on Christmas Eve. Geoff wrote, or co-wrote, numerous hits during the sixties, was the man behind the New Vaudeville Band and co-wrote the much loved song ‘We Love the Pirates’. Many thanks to everyone who has supported or contributed to the site during 2020. Happy new year to you all. http://www.offshoreradio.co.uk/

RIP Martin Smith

RIP Martin Smith
It is with great sadness that we share the news with you about the passing away of Martin Smith, one of our longest serving staff members.
Way over a decade Martin was a member of the Seagull crew. He was a skilled radio-presenter but also a brilliant voice-over. His deep voice can still be heard on Radio Seagull in trailers, promo’s, commercials and announcements. In 2011 he was part of the crew on board the Radio Seagull ship Jenni Baynton when it was anchored 8 miles off the Dutch coast. He put his experiences on paper in an article called :”An offshore rookie”, telling how much he enjoyed his time on board.
Martin leaves an emptiness behind, of course with his family and close friends. But also with all the people at Radio Seagull, on both sides of the radio !
