The Marine, Etc., Broadcasting (Offences) Act 1967 c.41, shortened to Marine Broadcasting Offences Act, became law in the United Kingdom at 12 midnight on Monday, August 14, 1967. Its purpose was to extend the powers of the British Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1949 (which it incorporated by reference), beyond the territorial land mass and territorial waters of the UK to cover airspace and bodies of water.

At the time that the Bill was introduced in Parliament in 1966, there were radio stations and proposals for television stations outside British
licensing jurisdiction with signals aimed at Britain. These stations were at sea but there were press reports of stations planned from aircraft.

The Act included the Channel Islands and extended to the Isle of Man. As a result, offshore stations called pirate radio became criminal if operated or assisted by persons subject to UK law. Station operators thought they could continue if they were staffed, supplied and funded by non-British citizens, but this proved impractical.

Atlantic 252 reunion

Atlantic 252 Launched in Trim on September 1st 1989 and we want you to help us celebrate it’s 20th birthday!

It was originally to be a private type event now it is open to the General Public to attend a conference type setting to see and hear and meet the people who made Atlantic 252 one of the most successful Irish based radio stations in Europe.

Radio Spectrum rebroadcast Veronica 31 August

Same time, same frequency, just 35 years later.

On August 31st 2009, Spectrum Radio will be rebroadcasting the final hours of Radio Veronica on 558kHz AM between 3 and 5 p.m. UK time. You can also listen online and the recording will be made available on the Spectrum Radio website.

Radio Caroline Spain

New to the Costa Blanca

Radio Caroline Spain has recently started broadcasts across the Costa Blanca on 102.7 fm and around the world at radiocaroline.es, Radio Caroline Spain is a sister company to Radio Caroline UK, it is operated under permission of Radio Caroline UK and plays a similar mix of music. Broadcasting is carried out from the Caroline Spain studios on the outskirts of Benidorm, the station broadcasts local content between 9am and 10pm local time and acts as a relay to Radio Caroline UK throughout the night.

FM Coverage and plans for the future

The station is currently broadcasting on 102.7fm from its well modulated FM transmitter located on the outskirts of Benidorm, coverage is currently between Alicante to Calpe but the strongest signal is directed towards Benidorm. There are plans, for the near future, to relocate the Benidorm transmitter to give better reception in the local area allowing coverage for Altea, Alfaz and La Nucia. A second and third transmitter are also going to be located in Alicante and Denya over the next couple months.
