Saturday 9 August, from 11 am to 5 pm. Go along for a day packed with
radio nostalgia – with new displays plus the Moggy Van Radio Collection,
vintage radios, Caroline merchandise and offshore radio jumble. Radio
Caroline presenters Stephen Foster and Paul Brown will be there too

PRESS RELEASE 2025 – RADIO TITANIC INTERNATIONAL RETURNS FOR A ONE-OFF EVENT

The never-ending story finally comes to an end:
“Germany’s longest-serving free radio station,” RADIO TITANIC INTERNATIONAL, which last contaminated the airwaves with its free radio programs 25 years ago, is back on shortwave for you, offering you the unique opportunity to hear the station again, or rather for the first time.
Thanks to the outstanding service provided by the makers of Shortwave Gold and shortwaveradio.de, who gave us the opportunity to celebrate this unique comeback of RTI via their transmitters!
The station was active on various pirate radio frequencies from 1975 to 2000 – some old-timers may still remember this – and is now celebrating its unique comeback on shortwave exactly 50 years after its broadcasting launch in August 1975.
In the first 25 years of its existence, RTI broadcast more than 250 times with its own transmitters and those of its friends, and sent out more than 1,500 printed QSL cards during that time.
In addition to a current programme segment, there will be a retrospective of RTI’s station history, as well as various recordings from almost all of the DJs who were hired on the broadcasting ship TITANIC at the time.
The program blocks will be in German, English, Swedish, and Spanish, among others, hosted by all the DJs who contributed announcements and programmes in the years before the millennium. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our friends and many helpers; without your enthusiasm, this project would never have survived 25 years!

Please note:
All other postal and email addresses listed in the various broadcast blocks have been invalid for more than 25 years! Printed QSL cards will also no longer be available!
But of course, an eQSL will be issued for accurate, detailed reception reports of at least 15 minutes. Reception observations via SDR world receivers are also welcome. However, please do not send us “Man sings – speech – woman sings – speech reports.” Unfortunately, we cannot do anything with that, and these reports will not be responded to. Details are requested, including short audio/video recordings of up to 3MB in size or 2 minutes per report. Unfortunately, our server cannot handle more than that! Please compress the files.
Please also note that due to vacation, we will not respond to emails until late fall or winter 2025. We therefore sincerely ask listeners to be patient and not to file complaints after a few days or weeks. It’s pointless!
General criticism of the programs is, of course, very welcome and encouraged.
We wish all old and new listeners uninterrupted reception, good entertainment, and lots of fun listening.

Doug Wood RIP

Today, July 30th, the sad news came in that after a short period of illness Doug Wood passed away. Another former Voice of Peace deejay has left us.
Doug’s interest in radio started when he heard Radio Caroline from the North Sea in March 1964, just a couple days after the station started. After doing many normal jobs like TV & Radio engineer, Electricians mate, electrical goods salesman, Club DJ, Public house manager, tobacco and confectionary sales representer, radio came around the corner.
In October 1981 Doug was offered his first professional radio job on The Voice Of Peace on board the Peace Ship to present morning music from 09-00 to 12-00, along with many other shows off the coast of Israel. β€œUp to that point” explained Doug β€œIt was the best time of my life, the sea and radio works were well for me, I was in heaven, even when the sea got rough, I loved the ride the ship gave us as she rolled over the waves”.
In April 1983 it was time to move on and so Doug headed for the French and Italian Rivera and the Breakfast Show on Radio Nova International. Later that same year Doug joined Signal Radio, the new commercial radio station for Staffordshire and Cheshire in the north of England, β€œI wonder how long they will put up with me” remembered Doug, 31 years was the answer , β€œAnd they only sacked me because I finally got fed up with playing the same 300 songs time and time again, and I took up offers to work on two new stations that had appeared in the area, first Moorlands Radio, then The Hitmix”.
Finally he had to quit because of his wife’s deteriorating health and look after her at home. That was in 2018. In 2019 Doug made the move from Staffordshire where he had broadcast for some 34 years, back to his roots, Kent in the southeast of England, where his family was based. He and his wife bought a rather large apartment in a retirement development just a few meters away from the sea. Of course the apartment had to be big enough to house The RADIO SHIP and a studio had been built and the station was fully operational from its new Thames estuary location, on the North Sea coast.
Doug Wood had launched The RADIO SHIP in 2014, an internet station that played the music, jingles and DJ clips from the original offshore stations, including The Voice Of Peace of course, then to top it off he was offered the chance to come back to the New Voice Of Peace and voice track the links for Drive Time, so life turned full circle.
Doug met his wife Lynn on a blind date on 21st July 1985 and they married on 12th June the following year. Sadly in 1999 Lynn developed Cardiomyopathy , and then in 2013 she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Doug remembered β€œThat really started to change our life and plans from late 2014, and since then life became increasingly difficult”. Some years ago Lynn passed away which brought Doug in a sad condition. He missed her enormous. And now he left mother earth too, but memories stay!
