* GBR. Redruth. Radio Argus Cornwall holds a meeting to discuss the way forward (if any). The hours had been long and DJs were finding out that a few weeks off from 3-hour daily shows were both a welcome change but also something is missing. The first issue is James Halstead and Simon Myres, and the issue with the rig he lost in Majorca. James sticks to his story and apologises for throwing the rig away, and while Simon is happy with his apology, Pete says he does not believe him, and tries to start an argument. Ginny gets up and goes to the phone; Bill has given her a number. She asks the Impact owner then and there what happened in Majorca, and James’ story is verified; at the same time, she is asked if Pete Davis is still on the station, and that no cooperation will be possible while he is. Simon then shakes hands with James Halstead, and calls for a vote on Pete. Trying to avert a row, Bill asks Simon if he is prepared to repair and maintain the rig, and Simon says he is, whereupon Pete says that cooperation with Impact Radio is surely academic. He also asks who is boss here, and why is he being picked on? With James Halstead back the shows can be reduced to two hours each, or a better rotation system sorted out with 3 hour shows. Charles Fuller then asks what Pete has done to cause the problems, and learns about the past attacks. He then says he feels Pete seems troubled and needs to take some time away to consider and return when he can reflect and feel calmer in himself. why should one station on MW and another on FM, playing totally different music to each other in different towns have any problem at all? He offers to speak to Impact to explain this and hopefully get their agreement or at least understanding to this approach. This, despite Pete’s protests, is agreed by all the others. Pete is told he is still a part of the station, but is to stay off the air for a few weeks. With the meeting over, Simon replaces a valve in the rig, and fires up for a test broadcast!
