28 Mar. 1970 IRL. Connemara. 1484 kHz MW. Irish language station Saor-Radio Chonamara starts broadcasts, seeking to create a local Irish language service. It remains on air from a caravan until 5 April. This station is to eventually become a national station, but operated by RTE.
