On this day 13 May

Hi all.
nothing to report for yesterday, but on this day [13 May]…
13 May 1984 GBR. The Observer newspaper has a piece on pirate radio, naming Radio Shoestring on 103.2 FM in London, broadcasting from Walthamstow. It also mentions Radio Freedom, Radio Free London, Radio Infinity, Alice’s Restaurant and JFM in London, plus EST in Birmingham, KFM in Stockport and Radio JB in Newcastle. Also featured is Radio Sunshine broadcasting from a caravan near Ludlow, which has been fined £500 in the past month with equipment seized, after complaints from licensed Beacon Radio and Wyvern Radio, but was back on air within two hours of the raid. Again, this says a lot about a station using a caravan for a studio and not a lot about the standards of the higher-powered licensed stations with their comfortable studios.
13 May 1989 GBR. Camborne. Radio Argus’ 6210 kHz Short-Wave service goes 24 hours. Not a lot of response is noted, compared to MW and FM, and there is irritation among the staff that any listeners who do respond have little or no programme feedback or requests and have usually only listened long enough to get the mailing address before clearly tuning somewhere else
