This is instigated by licensed Capital Radio. This says more about the quality of LMR’s programmes than Capital’s, and is to re-occur a few times in the following years with different stations.

+ GBR Cornwall. 1503 kHz MW [Camborne] joins the 1602 kHz MW [St Ives] and 103.0 FM [Camborne] service of Radio Argus Cornwall, a bet had been made between Ginny and James Griggs that 1503 would not be ready for Christmas Day. It fired up at 18:30! Not as powerful as the 1602 kHz service, nonetheless it got out almost as well as the FM in places.
