On Saturday, November 11, 2023 a new program from Radio Igloo will be broadcast.
The West Coast DX club will have a listening camp in a cabin in the woods north of Gothenburg, Sweden, next weekend.
The DX club and Radio Igloo will broadcast a program with our own favorite music. There will be a mix of many different styles of music. Our best program to date – at least we think so.
For the first time, the program will be broadcast simultaneously from three different transmitters, from different locations in Central Europe and on different frequencies.
It has become possible thanks to our radio-friends in Central Europe. It will be interesting to see how it will work.
The program will be broadcast on Saturday 11 November at 19–20 Central European Time (18–19 UTC) on 4945, 5840 and 6380 kHz. (or on a free frequency nearby).
The program will be rebroadcast the following day at 15-16 CET but then only on 6380 kHz
We appreciate reports on our program, preferably with an audio clip and with comments on the content of the program.

04 Nov. 1956 HUN. Budapest. 05:20 Imre Nagy, Prime Minister of Hungary, appears on Free Radio Budapest, to announce that at daybreak Soviet forces had started an attack on Hungary, and to notify the world of this. The Hungarian National Anthem – not the communist one – is then played. A few hours later, at 08:10 the final broadcast is heard ‘Help Hungary… Help, Help, Help’ before going off the air. Many of those involved in this and other broadcasts such as Radio Free Petofi and Radio Free Gyor are to be executed by the Soviets over the next few months.

Dear FRS Friend!
In our previous message we informed about our 29th October broadcast (last Sunday).
That went out on 7700//9345 kHz. 9945 was nót communicated in our message. We didn’t expect that 9300 and 9335 were not clear and a move was the only solution.
Conditions last Sunday were not what we hoped for.
A new opportunity is next Sunday November 5th (hoping for the better).
We will be on air on 6185 kHz and once again 31 metres. We do hope starting on 9300 but realize it could be any other frequency in the 9290- 9345 range!
Start is 09:52 CET sharp, close down 14:35 CET.
We are looking forward to have your company next Sunday!

* IRL Dublin. 1484 kHz MW. Saor-Raidio Chonamara returns to the air for the Oireachtas nan Gael festival, to protest the moving of the festival outside of the Gaeltacht area. This station, with its adherence to the Irish language, is to eventually influence the Irish Government to introduce RTE, which eventually appeared in 1972

* In this month, licensed Radio Mercury, incapable of putting out better programmes than Radio Jackie and losing listeners as a result, takes out an injunction against Radio Jackie, and the station owner, Tony Collis, who goes into hiding as a result. The station stays on air, while a new owner is sought

* GBR. Bromley. Bert Bridges becomes increasingly annoyed with the tenant in the flat upstairs, and his loud radio, which he will not turn down, so he buys a Tandy 160 – in -one project kit, and builds the MW radio project, to try and jam Capital Gold on 1548 kHz in the upstairs flat. It is successful, and creates horrible warbles and heterodyne shrieks, which (with some ‘advice’ from Bert), convinces the tenant that his radio is faulty due to having being played too loudly!
* GBR. Wolverhampton 1413 kHz MW. UK Radio returns, although Paul Johnson is still very ill. The new band and frequency are now in use, and the station is to appear here several Sundays in November and December.
* GBR. West Midlands. PCRL hosts its own Children in Need show for disadvantaged children in Birmingham
[First of all, proof that I am not always good at dates! 🙂 I think I bought the Tandy kit on a Saturday – no idea which one – and taped the aerial wire to the ceiling below his music centre on the Sunday.
As for the rest, again, any dates would be appreciated please]
