A new Broadcasting Law aimed at the free and pirate stations operating becomes law today, with potential fines of up to £1000 and / or 3 months imprisonment on summary conviction and up to 20,000 and / or 2 years imprisonment on conviction of indictment, plus equipment will be confiscated [stolen].
* GBR. Liverpool. 1197 kHz MW simulcast with 99.4 FM. Radio Atlantis starts putting out higher powered FM broadcasts.
* IRL. 6280 kHz SW. Prince Terry changes the name and frequency of his station, Westside Radio to Radio Ozone International, and his on-air name to Mr. Ozone.
* GBR, Surrey. 6290 kHz SW. Radio Kristel International ceases broadcasts on SW this year. It is to eventually move to MW
* GBR. West Midlands. Last year and this year an increase in free radio stations has occurred, the following stations have either already appeared by this year, or will be doing so: –

* GBR. Essex. In this year Radio Confusion starts broadcasts, mainly on SW.
* GBR. Erith, SE London. Martin Richards instals an FM rig up a tower block, puts out a broadcast of his station KAOS, then takes the rig down. The following week he goes back, and the block has gone! It has been demolished! This has to be the first time ever that a free radio station has lost a block but kept the rig!
* GBR. Paisley. 103.5 FM. K-OSS broadcasts this year from an empty High Rise flat in Paisley.

* BEL. Antwerp Court. the Delmare court case takes place. Johan Rood appears due to the result of the May 17th raid. Radio Delmare was raided because a complaint via the London RAD control. The complaint is taken very seriously by the judge until Johan Rood succeeds in disproving the complaint. He brings a World Radio & TV Handbook and convinces the judge that several international broadcasters are using the frequency range 6200-6210 kHz (often with much higher powers than Delmare). Johan also mentions the Belgian RTT had been using 6225 less than 2 years ago, illegally! In the end only one complaint is left over: illegal broadcasting for which a much smaller than expected fine is imposed. Johan starts working on a return, which unfortunately never becomes reality.

FRS Holland Seasonal Greetings 2023

Dear FRS Friends,
We would hereby like to thank you for your support over 2023.
Mainly due to personal circumstances it wasn’t our most active year unfortunately.
Nevertheless we carried out a few successful broadcasts.
We are now on our way to 40+4 years of shortwave broadcasts .
Also in 2024 FRS hopes to entertain you with great music, radio news, listener’s letters and all those programme items.
