* GBR London. Wells Magistrates Court, Radio Horizon DJs Chris Stewart and C J Carlos are charged with unlicensed broadcasting, relating to the raid back in 1984, The argument was made that the studio had not been anything to do with the broadcast, but had been a DJ Training school (which story had not been helped during the raid by someone returning the stereo encoder that had been thrown into the garden just before the raid!). The DTI appeared not to have the link transmitter though, but the judge (allegedly Richard Branson’s father), found against the accused. CJ Carlos has a £200 fine with £300 costs, and as Chris has the forfeiture of the studio equipment worth £20,000 he gets no fine, but an 18-month conditional discharge plus £1000 costs.
