Radio Barones

Radio Barones is on 1646 Khz at 1659 Utc with SINPO 43443 S=9+10dB. Caught just the ID and some instrumental music. Then close down, do not know if there is a QSO-round going on.

Laser Hot Hits

Laser Hot Hits is on 6275 Khz at 1720 Utc with SINPO 23322. Plays some 80th pop music like walk in the park. Signal is now weaker then before stopping the regular transmissions but readable.
Quoting from the website http://www.laserhothits.co.uk/:

October 2006 – We have begun new test transmissions on 6275kHz via a new relay station. These transmissions are taking place at various times on weekdays and weekends, and reception reports would be gratefully received and acknowledged. Also thanks to several other shortwave free radio stations who have been relaying our Destiny media stream from the Internet via their own transmitters – all relays are gratefully accepted at this time.

Please see the announcement below updating our message from 23 August. On this month’s update, there is a chance to hear shows which were recently aired on shortwave. We still have some shows that were recorded for shortwave but either only made it on air for a few days or did not get transmitted at all. So please keep checking out our website for more programmes in the next few months. You can hear these shows on the Sounds page.

Alternatively you can always listen to Laser streaming on the web via the Destiny Media Player. This is available 24 hours a day and offers good quality audio with some shows in stereo. Surf along to PirateRadio.Com and download the Destiny Media Player. Once installed, click on Radio then the Station tag on the right. In the list that appears look for Laser Hot Hits in the Mixed Format folder. Click on Laser’s name in the list and we should start streaming to your computer.

Also if you missed any programmes from the last update, you can still hear them by clicking the following Recent Shows page.

Laser Hot Hits off air

23 August 2006 – After 12 years of successful broadcasting to Europe, we have reluctantly been forced to shutdown our shortwave transmissions. This is due to action from the radio authorities. In the meantime, we shall keep the Destiny stream and shows on our website available so listeners can continue to hear our programmes. Please keep checking this website for more updates over the coming weeks. Thanks to all the shortwave listeners who have supported us over the years.

(Quoted from Laser Hot Hits website http://laserhothits.co.uk)

Thanks for the nice programmes over the years. Hope you be able to return to shortwave one day.

Relays via Latvia Update

Since 2002 various radio services have been relayed via the shortwave facilities of the LRTVC at Ulbroka. These relays were arranged via a Latvian Company (KREBS TV).

Please note that KREBS TV no longer holds a shortwave broadcasting licence in Latvia.

In late 2005 the Latvian Broadcasting Council invited Tenders for the establishment of a full commercial shortwave broadcast radio station.

On Friday 27th January 2005, the Latvian Broadcasting Council announced that RNI had been granted a FULL commercial shortwave broadcasting licence.

The RNI broadcasting licence is NOT a temporary relay licence, as used by previous operator KREBS TV.

RNI is now the ONLY officially sanctioned shortwave broadcast radio station in Latvia.

The website address is :

Latvia shortwave relays

The closed shortwave relay service on 9290 kHz is due to return with a new owner in the autumn. The relay license of Krebs TV (51% owned by Jan Telenský, also the owner of Radio Tatras International) has now expired.

The New license owner is planning to install a small SW transmitter (probably 10kW; DRM-ready) during the summer and to resume the relay service for low-budget program producers in the autumn.

This will substitute the previously used 100kW transmitter. Since the Latvian state transmitter operator LVRTC (owner of the Ulbroka site) raised the prices for the shortwave transmitter lease at the beginning of the year, the rates for 100kW airtime are no longer affordable by
the typical customers of the relay service. However the old 100kW transmitter will still be available for clients who are ready to pay the higher prices.

CWR ist erreichbar via email shortwave (-a-)gmx.de.

The great 208 is back

The great 208 Radio Luxembourg is back on the internet. Under http://www.radioluxembourg.co.uk/ you can listen to winamp and realaudio streams. May be it will be broadcast on shortwave or mediumwave in DRM as well soon. Some old presenters are also on board. The station has a nice music selection with soft-rock songs. It is not the old feeling of the 80th and 90th on 1440 Khz with the fading and special reception conditions on mediumwave.

FRS Holland celebrates 25 years on shortwave

Hallo FRS Friends,

FRS-Holland is 25 years young! We will celebrate this very memorable fact with a special Birthday trm in November. As you will understand it is impossible to approach
each listener personally. But on the other hand we feel it is very important to have your participation that day.
Several FRSH-friends have already send in their recorded / written greetings but what are YOU waiting for ? We very much would also like to hear from YOU ! Time is running out.
Make this broadcast to an unforgettable one and produce your very own, personal FRS-Holland Birthday greeting.
Send your personal FRS memories on MD, cassettre or as an MP3 file.
….when did you hear us first ?
….in which way did you get to know about FRS ? (via a magazine, other SW FR station, a DX px etc.)
….what are your best memories ?
…..is there anything very special you do remember ?

This is your chance to be on FRS-Holland during a very special occasion. How many SW FR stations have managed to be on for 25 years ??

Each listener participating, will receive a surprise later this year ! Simply congratulate FRSH with its 25th birthday is of course also an option !!
We know a lot of FRS Friends are out there… Some of the listeners seem to have disappeared, we would be delighted to hear from them.
If you know anybody from the past who used to tune in, forward this message !

Apart from your memories, we are looking for catchy one-liners. What does FRS-Holland mean to you ? Let us know your very own thought(s) and do it in only one sentence !!
A recorded message is the most personal way in which you can participate! But if you have no recording facilities, please send us a letter.
Deadline is the first week of October 2005 but better is to do it right now !!! In this way we will get more time for preparations….

Looking at the great number of listeners tuning in to us in the past 25 years, there must be hundreds of interesting stories. Share your fond memories with us and the other listeners.
Don’t miss your chance to get involved….
We are still looking for an E-mail address from our former German deejay Michael (early 80s). Can anybody help us ?

Details about the broadcasting weekend will be send in October. Sun November 20th could become FRS Day !
All the best,

Peter Verbruggen (on behalf of the FRS crew)
